# Configure before-delivery notifications

> Choose reminder lead days and the date, fixed-time, or buffer-window promise sent to customers.

Before-delivery settings control both when reminders become eligible and which upcoming dates automatic Planning protects.

## Lead days

Enter a whole number from 1 to 30. The default is 2 days.

If the value is 2, a daily reconciliation can send missing reminders for eligible visits today, tomorrow, and the following day. Those dates are also protected from automatic route changes and new automatic assignments.

## Timing profiles

Configure separate wording for visits where the customer must or does not need to be present.

| Mode              | Customer sees                          | Planning promise                        |
| ----------------- | -------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------- |
| **Date only** | The local service date | Keep the visit on the communicated date |
| **Fixed time** | The scheduled time | Keep the communicated time |
| **Buffer window** | A window around the scheduled interval | Keep the communicated arrival interval |

For a buffer window, **Before start** expands the beginning and **After end** expands the end. The default presence-required profile uses 60 minutes before and 120 minutes after; the default non-presence profile uses the date only.

  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure both timing profiles">

  </Step>

  <Step title="Preview the impact and save">
    Review newly eligible reminders, newly protected visits, and visits that would no longer be protected.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## How reminders are reconciled

Sweeply checks active, scheduled, not-started future visits and creates any missing enabled email and SMS delivery independently. Moving a visit within the same service date does not send the ordinary reminder again; moving it to another date can make a new reminder eligible.

<Note>
  A current notification protects the schedule even if one delivery channel later fails. Review failed deliveries and contact the customer deliberately.
