# Orders and subscriptions explained

> Understand the difference between one visit and the recurring agreement that creates visits.

Change an order when only one visit changes. Change the subscription when the recurring agreement and its future visits should change.

| Record       | Represents                      | Change it when                                                                                                             |
| ------------ | ------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Order | One concrete customer visit | One date, visit note, task, price, duration, planning requirement, invoice outcome, or cancellation changes |
| Subscription | The recurring service agreement | The property, recurring services, cycle, task frequency, long-term scheduling requirements, or subscription status changes |

## Generated subscription orders

An active subscription generates future orders. Each generated order has its own target week and later receives its own assigned member, scheduled time, work state, invoice, and payment.

Changing a generated order does not change the subscription cadence. Changing the subscription reconciles its future generated orders while preserving protected operational history.

## Manual orders linked to subscriptions

You can create an order from a subscription so the property, services, and requirements are prefilled. A manually linked order is still a concrete visit; it is not automatically managed like an ordinary generated occurrence in every subscription update.

## Examples

* The customer wants next Tuesday's visit moved: change the order.
* The customer wants all future visits on Thursdays: change the subscription.
* One visit includes an extra service: change that order.
* The extra service should repeat every second cycle: change the subscription task cadence.
* The customer ends the agreement: cancel the subscription, then review the affected future orders.

<Warning>
  Do not change a subscription merely to move one scheduled visit. Subscription edits can update or replace multiple future orders.
