# Set working hours and availability exceptions

> Configure company defaults, member overrides, time off, custom hours, and planning flexibility.

Availability defines the route windows Planning may use. Start with company-wide weekly hours, then add member overrides and date-specific exceptions only where necessary.

## Weekly schedules

* The **Default weekly schedule** applies to the company.
* A **Weekly schedule override** replaces inherited hours for one team member.
* Disabled days provide no planning capacity.
* **Start flex** allows Planning to begin earlier than the ordinary start.
* **End flex** allows Planning to finish later than the ordinary end.

## Configure ordinary hours

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Availability">
    Go to **Settings** > **Availability**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the schedule scope">
    Select the company default or a specific team member.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set each day">
    Enable working days and enter the start and end time. Add flex minutes only when overtime-like planning flexibility is acceptable.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save the weekly schedule">
    Review the affected week in Planning. Availability changes can require a new plan.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Add an exception

Use an exception for a date range that differs from the weekly schedule:

* **Time off** removes the person's availability.
* **Custom hours** replace the ordinary hours for the selected date or dates.

Add an optional reason so office users understand the change.

<Warning>
  Availability changes do not automatically move visits protected by a past date, the before-delivery lock window, a customer notification, or a manual route lock.
