# Pause, resume, or cancel a subscription

> Control recurring demand and understand what happens to future and protected orders.

Pause a subscription when the agreement may continue later. Cancel it when the recurring agreement has ended permanently.

## Pause

Pausing stops ordinary future generation and removes ordinary future generated orders. Protected customer or operational history is kept:

* Locked, notified, and manually linked future orders are cancelled rather than silently deleted.
* Started, completed, invoiced, and payment-bearing orders remain for review.
* Customers are not notified automatically.

## Resume

Resuming makes the subscription active again and recreates eligible future demand according to the current cycle and task cadence. Review the next orders and Planning after resuming.

## Cancel

Cancellation applies the same protection rules to existing orders but permanently ends the subscription. You cannot resume a cancelled subscription.
